White Sands, NM
On February 1, 1896, Albert Jennings Fountain was attempting to make his way home to Mesilla from Lincoln, New Mexico. His eight-year old son Henry accompanied him. Two pools of blood were found alongside Fountain’s buckboard wagon in White Sands, New Mexico. His Winchester rifle along with his remains and those of his son were missing. Fountain served in the Texas Senate during the Twelfth and Thirteenth Texas legislatures.
